CLASSIFICATION: ECNi3 per AWS A5.23, SFA 5.23.

This electrode is a metal cored, low alloy steel wire for submerged arc welding only. Select Ni3S contains nominally 3% nickel to produce good low temperature toughness.

APPLICATIONS: Select Ni3S is utilized for the welding of carbon steel and certain low alloy steels where low temperature toughness is needed. These include shipbuilding, offshore oil equipment and other cold weather, structural applications.

DIAMETERS: 5/64", 3/32", 1/8", 5/32"

WELDING POSITIONS: Flat and Horizontal

CHARACTERISTICS:

  • Delivers a ductile deposit with good low temperature toughness.
  • Allows for better control of bead penetration than solid wire.
  • Reduces the tendency for burn through on root passes or poorly fit up joints.
  • Provides higher deposition rates than solid wire.
